Welcome to my cookbook Cookerypoint - Ila's Kitchen. Today we are going to do a famous snack recipe in South India especially in Tamilnadu. Hope u guess??? Yup it is Vada... Yummy Vada.... Today our recipe is Masala Vada (or) Channadal Vada. This recipe belongs to South Indian Cuisine. Basically , the batter is prepared for vada and it is deep fried in round shape. There are many varieties of vada and today our variety is Masala vada..This is one of the recipes in my Pongal Platter.Lets go to our recipe preparation.....

Ingredients:
Channa dal - 2 cups
Ginger - 1/2 inch
Garlic - 3 pods
Cinnamon - 2 sticks
Redchilli - 3 no
Cumin - 1 tspn
Onion - 2 no (finely chopped)
Coriander leaves - little
Curry leaf - little
Greenchilli - 1 no (Chopped)
Salt as required
Oil as required
Preparation:
Wash and soak Channadal for 4 hours.
Add cinnamon,cumin,redchilli,ginger,garlic,salt and handful of channa dal
and grind it in mixie.
Try to avoid adding water and make it as coarse paste.
Try to grind channadal in 2(or)3 sets.
Grind first 2 sets of channadal coarsely and last set finely.
It will help the batter to bind together.
Add chopped onion,greenchilli, coriander and curry leaves to batter.
Wet your hands (Palms) before making the vada shape.
Now,take the vada batter and press lightly in palm and drip it in hot oil.
Deep fry the batter both side and vada is ready.
Serving Suggestion:
Masala Vada can be served as evening snacks. This South Indian Recipe can be served with chutney and Sambhar.
